Your Participation in Practice Information Survey Needed

The American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and more than 70 other organizations are conducting a comprehensive multispecialty survey of physician practices. Results from the study will be used to educate policymakers about the realities of modern medical and surgical practice. Of particular importance is a section pertaining to practice expenses. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has indicated that it will use the results of this survey to help determine physician payment. The firm dmrkynetec has been retained to contact randomly selected physicians and practice managers to collect responses. All responses will remain confidential.

As of mid-July, fewer than 50 percent of the general surgery practices chosen for participation had completed the survey. Surgeons should inform their staff about their willingness to participate in the survey and to accept calls, faxes, or e-mail from dmrkynetec. A postcard was mailed to the entire physician sample in June. If you received this mailing, you have been selected for inclusion in the study. If you have been chosen for participation and have questions about the survey, please call toll-free at 877-816-8940 and ask to speak with an executive interviewer. To find out whether you have been selected for inclusion, go to https://doanemrwebsc.com/onlinesurveys/amas/. The Web site provides instructions to help selected surgeons prepare for the survey.
